Frequently asked
FAQ.
Rates, availability, insurance, parking, pets, drones, and everything else we get asked most. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Email info@apexphotostudios.com.
How much does it cost to rent a studio?
Studio rental rates at Apex vary by use. Production studios start at $75 per hour; event spaces start at $120 per hour (with a 6-hour minimum).
See full pricing on each studio page for productions, or our events page for event rentals.
How do I check studio availability?
Real-time availability lives directly on each studio’s page. Select your space, choose your shoot duration, and click the calendar icon to pick a date — available start times appear as active options.
If a time is available, you can book instantly for that date and duration. No phone tag required.
Where can I find parking?
Convenient pay-to-park lots are near both Apex locations.
At our 1024 Santee Street studio, three nearby pay-to-park lots are cash only, have ATMs on-site, and typically range $20–$25.
At our 530 E 8th Street studio, several pay-to-park lots are available, most along San Julian Street.
Full maps and reservation info: parking information page. Please confirm operating hours with lot attendants. Apex is not responsible for accidents, injuries, or lost/stolen property. Prices may vary.
What kind of insurance do I need?
Proof of liability insurance is required and due 72 hours prior to call time. Producer shall provide Apex with a certificate of insurance and endorsement, with Apex named as additional insured.
Minimum levels:
- Commercial Liability Insurance — $1,000,000 per occurrence / $3,000,000 aggregate
- Naming “Apex Photo Studios, LLC” as additional insured
Email the certificate to info@apexphotostudios.com. Producer assumes full responsibility and liability for any damages to the studio and surrounding site.
Do you have a rooftop cyclorama?
Yes — our Rooftop A includes a cyclorama wall for seamless shooting.
The cyc rental fee includes a fresh coat of white paint before your session. The cyc wall can only be adjusted or moved by Apex staff for safety reasons.
What is your cancellation policy?
Studio bookings can be cancelled or rescheduled from your account up to 72 hours before call time for a full refund. Inside that window, cancellations and reschedules are handled by Apex on a case-by-case basis — email us to discuss.
Equipment add-ons follow a separate rule: changes, removals, or cancellations within 72 hours of the shoot date are non-refundable. Full terms are in the refund policy and the rental agreement.
Does Apex allow animals?
We’re pet-friendly. Dogs and cats are allowed on set after written notice has been given by the client and approved by an Apex studio manager. Pets must be kept on leashes during the entire time and remain in the studio at all times.
Written requests for any other animals besides dogs or cats must be submitted to info@apexphotostudios.com and approved by staff.
Can we use firearms while filming?
No use of real firearms is permitted on our premises. Replica firearms are prohibited without prior agreement between the production and the police (where it will be officially logged) and/or appropriate emergency services.
It is the responsibility of the production to ensure the safe custody of firearms at all times. A licensed armorer must be present during film shoots involving firearms.
What are your rules around drone use indoors and on rooftops?
We abide by all drone guidelines mandated by the FAA. In addition, Apex needs prior notice if drone use is planned for any production.
