Inside the Shoot with Abigael Boivin and Gregorio Campos at Apex Photo Studios

During a shoot with photographer Gregorio Campos at Apex Photo Studios, model Abigael Boivin opened up about the early confidence that shaped her modeling career, the role of journaling, her faith, and the rhythm of life as a working model in New York.

A name with its own energy

Abigael begins the interview by talking about the individuality of her name. Her first name is spelled differently, and her French last name carries family history. The way she describes it gives the conversation an immediate personal frame: identity, independence, and a little mystery.

“Unique, independent, maybe a little bit mysterious.” Abigael Boivin

That same quality carries through the rest of the interview. She is not only talking about modeling as a job, but about the personal history and inner life behind the work.

Growing up through modeling

Abigael started modeling young, and when she looks back at older photos, she sees confidence and growth rather than distance. The images remind her of how much she has learned and how much she has changed since the beginning.

“I learned so much and I've just grown so much into the person I am today.” Abigael Boivin

One of the clearest turning points came when she was 13 years old at a modeling competition in New York. Surrounded by older models and actors, she won Female Model of the Year and Most Sought After Model. For Abigael, that moment gave her a strong sense of direction.

Music, journaling, and a creative mind

Abigael talks about music as something constant in her life. She says she cannot sit in silence and is usually listening to something. When asked what kind of song she would want someone to write about her, she points toward jazz or alternative.

“I can’t listen to silence. I love music.” Abigael Boivin
“Jazz or alternative? That would be really cool.” Abigael Boivin

Journaling also became an important part of her life, especially when modeling began to feel stressful. She describes writing as a way to get her thoughts out, process questions, and later look back with a different perspective.

“I journal in my free time a lot, just about all the thoughts and all the questions that I have in life.” Abigael Boivin

Faith, travel, and time alone

Abigael also speaks openly about her Christian faith and how it helped her through long stretches of travel. Modeling took her to places like London, Spain, and New York, sometimes for months at a time, often without familiar people around her.

“Jesus is always there and I’m never alone.” Abigael Boivin

Rather than describing loneliness only as a negative experience, she connects it to growth. Time alone gave her space to understand herself, her values, and the kind of person she wanted to be around others.

“You need to learn who you are before you can show people who you are.” Abigael Boivin

Life as a working model in New York

Now based in New York, Abigael describes a working model’s schedule as active and constantly changing. Some days start early with skincare, breakfast, coffee, and a train ride to set. Other days are shaped by castings, errands, workouts, and creating content.

“My days are so different. Every day is different.” Abigael Boivin

She recently signed a lease in New York and says she is taking her career day by day instead of forcing one fixed version of the future.

“I just want to take it day by day and see where this career takes me.” Abigael Boivin

Advice for new models

Abigael’s advice to new models is practical: enjoy the opportunity, but remember that modeling is still professional work. The job can be fun, creative, and social, but it still requires preparation and professionalism.

“You still have to remember it’s a job and that you do have to be professional.” Abigael Boivin

She also emphasizes that models are part of the creative process. They are not only there to be photographed; they are there to contribute movement, personality, and ideas.

“You’re not just there to model, you’re also there to be creative as well.” Abigael Boivin
